Scarlett bitch-slaps Dorothy

Scarlett Johansson I can’t say I’m surprised. Last time I checked wearing a dress didn’t make you an expert on women’s issues:

Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson is the latest star to slam Tom Cruise’s attack on Brooke Shields for using medication to ease postpartum depression. […]

She says, “I think people have their own right to choose whether or not they want to stop taking a drug.

“I can go into a very lengthy conversation with anyone about a woman’s right to choose and things like that, but I don’t believe in forcing my opinion on people.

“I do believe that, in particular, children are over medicated. But I’ve also known people who’ve taken anti-depressants for a couple of months, and it saves them from what could really be a drastic situation.

“Ruling out something that could legitimately help people seems ignorant.”

I would have gone with my personal favorite: ‘dim-witted’, but I guess ‘ignorant’ works too.

Did Scarlett get her facts wrong?

Scarlett Johansson car accident Well, according to the paparazzo, she most definitely did.

See, what was sold to us as a “Lohan-esque” paparazzi chase may actually be nothing more than a failed slow motion mouse hunt:

Scarlett Johansson’s claims of getting caught up in a traffic accident while trying to escape the paparazzi have been challenged by a photographer who witnessed the crash. […]

[Mario] Toruno, who saw the accident unfold as he sat at stoplights nearby, says: “When she was driving in to the parking lot, she was going very, very slow - maybe about 15 miles per hour - and she started veering to the left.

“It was almost like when you drop something on the car floor and you try to pick it up. Or she could’ve been busy talking with the two friends she had in her car. I couldn’t see what was going on inside of the car, but from the outside I could see that she wasn’t at all being chased when she hit the other lady’s car. […]

“I’m guessing that because she veered to the left, she was unable to see the other car - the only other vehicle at the parking lot entrance at that time - from her blindside. That’s when she slowly slammed into the other car. […]

“I’m sure Disneyland has video cameras at its entrance to prove that this is what happened. To be honest, we’d have been happier snapping pictures of Scarlett on the rides with her friends.

I hate it when good-hearted, non-stalking paparazzo are disappointed. C’mon you guys, there will be other Disneyland field trips. Promise.

Now wipe away those tears.

Scarlett makes Parkes eat his words

Scarlett Johansson Ring in a new round of “pass-the-buck” as “The Island”s blame shifting continues full force.

It’s always funny how producers try to dodge the box-office bomb bullet, but end up with some sticky stuff dripping down their faces:

The star [Scarlett Johansson] is mad as hell at the husband-and-wife producing team of Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald because, as PAGE SIX reported last week, they faulted her and co-star Ewan MacGregor’s lack of star power for the movie’s flop. Parkes went as far as to tell zap2it.com, “Even lesser television actresses, quite honestly, would have more connection to that audience.”

Now the gloves are off, and insiders on the picture are blaming the producers rather than the two young stars.

We’re told that Parkes and MacDonald “were only on the set three times” and that they spent three weeks in June, right before the movie’s release, on vacation in Italy, where they were “basically uncontactable.”

Sources also tattle that director Michael Bay delivered a final print of “The Island” only two days before the press screening and that during a meeting in April at Parkes’ office, DreamWorks publicity chief Terry Press admitted, “I have no idea how to market this movie.”

A spokesman for Johansson tells PAGE SIX’s Tom Sykes, “We find it incredible that the producers of ‘The Island’ have blamed the low box-office results on the film’s two lead actors. This is a clear-cut example of the producers’ passing the buck and not taking responsibility for their part in making calculated mistakes throughout the film’s marketing.”

The rep continues: “Ms. Johansson is proud of her performance and the film… The film and the actors’ performances were overall well received by the critics. We put our trust in the professionals who sold and promoted this film. It is unforgivable that the producers continue to blame everyone but themselves.” […]

Parkes and MacDonald ate their words as PAGE SIX went to press, praising “Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor’s extraordinary work” and alleging that their “comments were taken completely out of context.” DreamWorks had no comment.

Makes me wonder what Steven Spielberg was doing during this clusterfuck.

Oh, that’s right, he was chasing after Kooky Cruise.

Scarlett knows how to wake up

Scarlett Johansson Scarlett Johannson shows her goods good judgement for detail-oriented moviemaking:

SCARLETT JOHANSSON, who previously had said she wouldn’t go naked in a film, is topless in her new sci-fi thing, “The Island.” And not because the director decreed it. It’s by her own choice. Shooting this early-morning, getting-up-from-bed scene, she supposedly said: “Women don’t normally sleep in a bra. I can’t be shown waking up wearing a bra. It’s ridiculous.” Director Michael Bay then asked her suggestion as to wardrobe and Ms. Scarlett, who apparently did not turn scarlet, replied: “Well… nothing…”

Michael, on the other hand, bayed at the moon and ordered his cameraman to switch to the close-up lens:

Okay people, let’s get those knockers in the can!
